After the marriage of Rama-Sita, King Dasharatha announced the coronation of Rama. But then because of being provoked by Manthara, Queen Kaikeyi asked King Dasharatha to fulfil the two promises given by him once by King Kaikeyi as a reward to protect the life of King Dasaratha.

According to Manthara, Kaikai asked for two promises, one to Rama for 14 years of exile and the other to the coronation of Bharata.
Keeping the promise given by King Dasharatha, Shriram, along with Mother Sita and Lakshman left for exile.

On the other hand, Bharat went towards the forest to persuade Rama. Bharata asked Rama to return to Ayodhya, but Rama refused and dedicated his footwear to Bharata. Bharat returned to Ayodhya with footwear and started living in a cottage outside Ayodhya.

3. Aranya kaand

Ravana’s brother Vibhishana came under the shelter of Rama. Rama pacified the arrogance of the sea, and then Hanuman and other apes swam the stones named Rama in the sea and built a bridge over the sea.

6. Lanka Kaand

Sri Ram and his army reached Lanka from the bridge and Ram sent Angad as an envoy to Ravana for a treaty. But Ravana did not obey Rama in front of his pride. Then war was declared. The dreadful war has begun.
